Mobile gaming has taken a large piece of the industry. Angry Birds sold 10 million, Sonic the Hedgehog sold 8 million, Bejeweled (combined all version of the game) has sold 7.6 million.

Activision's blockbuster video game grossed more than $650 million worldwide, beating old record by $100 million during the first five days of sales (released November 9, 2010). With a budget estimated at more than $50 million.

Apple's iPad Top Purchase Interest:Kids

With Black Friday being the shotgun that will set off the race towards the Christmas holiday, we took the time to see what kids really want this year. Interestingly enough, among kid ages 6 to 12, the Apple iPad leads with 31 percent interested in a future purchase. The iPod Touch and computers share second place with 29 percent interested. The Nintendo DS line takes third with 25 percent interest, while the PlayStation 3 is the first home console on the list with 21 percent. The PlayStation Move outpaces the Kinect with 17 percent and 14 percent respectively, while the Xbox 360 lags in the penultimate spot with 12 percent.

For children aged 13 and older, the loadout switches up a bit. A computer becomes the number one most wanted item with 20 percent interested in a future purchase. Televisions and Smartphones are tied for the second spot with 19 percent, while the iPad pops up in third with 18 percent. The Wii is surprisingly the first console to show up on the charts with a 15 percent interest level, while the PlayStation 3 ties the iPhone at 13 percent. The Xbox 360 and PlayStation Move share a 9 percent interest and Kinect is one position lowered with 8 percent. All three handheld consoles mentioned (Nintendo DS, Nintendo 3DS, and PlayStation Portable) bring up the rear.

Apple's App Economy

If I were to tell you that Apple’s app economy was worth more than $2.5 $2.4 billion a year, you would laugh hysterically, shake your head and walk out of the room, yes? Surf on over to some other web site? But here I am telling you exactly that! According to mobile advertising startup AdMob, there are some $200 million worth of applications sold in Apple’s iPhone store every month, or about $2.4 billion a year.

Just to put that in context, Apple says about 1.5 billion apps have been downloaded from the App Store.

The iPhone iPad & iPod Market

Apple’s iPhone continues to sell more units each quarter. Since 2007 Apple has sold 73,736,000 iPhones, after a record Q4 Jul-Sep 2010 where Apple sold 14,102,000 iPhones

Apple released the iPad in April 2010, and sold 3 million of the devices in 80 days.

According to a report released by Strategy Analytics, the Apple iPad has gained a 95 percent share sales of Tablet PC at the end of second quarter 2010. And during the second quarter 2010, Apple had sold 4.19 million iPads around the world.

Apple's sold 275 million of those ubiquitous white earbuds since it swallowed the portable audio market whole a few years back.
