MMA Animals Project Outline

MMA Animals is the worlds first 3D animated brand based on the sport of Mixed Marital Arts. There are eight different Mixed Martial Artists Animals from eight different regions of the planet “Earth”. Each with the same goal, to become the next world champion.

There are 8 main animals characters from different regions and fighting styles. Every aspect of MMAA is going to interact with the virtual and physical world in some capacity.

Pre-development

We are currently working on the predevelopment for the first, of an eight part interactive story series. Each is a blend of gaming, video and a narrated eBook. The concept is unique but the principals are based around the “choose your own adventure” novels, where the user dictates the story line based on different factors.

Users will interact with the story by playing games and answering questions or achieving a set goal to directly dictate the out come of the story. The eight part series will be released on the iPad and made available for iPhone and iPod touch users. Following the release of the eighth interactive story (application available on iTunes) we will redevelop for the World Wide Web.

Digital Development

The assets required to develop the above mentioned interactive stories (applications) will include:

  • 10 - 12 minutes of 3D animated video - x8
  • Micro game "application" - x8
  • eBook(s) - x8
  • Augmented reality hard cover book w/ viewer applicatons - x8
  • Interactive story applications - x8
  • An interactive mmaanimals.com

Each will be available for sale and then merged into the interactive story. Here are some low estimates on sales/downloads strictly on iTunes. These are examples and could change during the development:

App Store

The Apple App Store is an app by Apple to download apps on an Apple Device (the iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad And Mac) offered by Apple Inc. At 10:26 AM GMT on Saturday, January 22, 2011, the 10 billionth app was downloaded from Apple App Store. Predictions for 2010 are 4.5 billion apps sold, for a total of $6.8 billion in revenue. If Apple can merely maintain its current rate of about a quarter billion app sales per month, and revenue share tracks with market share, it stands to be responsible for 3 billion apps sales—67 percent—good for about $4.5 billion in revenue. Apple's cut would be $1.35 billion, with developers taking the remainder.

Global Mobile Applications Store Revenue

Apple allows 70% of revenues from the store to instantly go to the seller of the app, and 30% go to Apple.

App Store application availability has increased in line with downloads over time.

Technologies

MMA Animals is being developed in 3D. Some of the technologies we are using in this project are; 3D/computer animation, augmented reality and Apple’s iPad/iPhone/iPod.

3D Animation

Computer animation is the art of creating moving images with the use of computers. It is a subfield of computer graphics and animation. The process of creating 3D computer graphics can be sequentially divided into three basic phases: 3D modeling which describes the process of forming the shape of an object, layout and animation which describes the motion and placement of objects within a scene, and 3D rendering which produces an image of an object.

Augmented reality

Augmented reality, a term for a live direct or indirect view of a physical real-world environment whose elements are augmented by virtual computer generated sensory input such as sound or graphics. Youtube "augmented reality" for examples of how this works.

iPhone, iPod & iPad

The iPad is a tablet computer designed and developed by Apple. It is particularly marketed as a platform for audio and visual media such as books, periodicals, movies, music, and games, as well as web content. Apple released the iPad in April 2010, and sold 3 million of the devices in 80 days.
